KIT GUIDELINES

There are two mandatory kit lists on this page: individual and team kit. They are all essential to your race-safety, as well as helping your enjoyment. The final definitive kit list will be emailed to all team captains in advance of each Rat Race event and you will be notified in the case of amendments or modifications. The race organisers will check that you have all kit listed here before, during or after the race, and if there is an omission, then a time penalty may be applied.

MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL KIT (MEAN STREETS):

  • RUNNING SHOES
  • HYDRATION SYSTEM (Bottle or Pack) 
  • TIMEPIECE (WATCH/PHONE OR OTHER)
  • PEN
  • FOOD and WATER (MINIMUM OF TWO ENERGY BARS OR EQUIVALENT, AND 500ml OF WATER)
  • RACE VEST AND NUMBER (supplied at the registration) SHOWING AT ALL TIMES. NOT REDUCED IN SIZE

    You may be required to wear additional garments because of weather conditions (further information will be available nearer to race day)

 

MANDATORY TEAM KIT (MEAN STREETS):

  • MOBILE PHONE (Fully Charged)
  • FIRST AID KIT - MUST CONTAIN: (you can buy First Aid kits here)
    one large and several small wound dressings
    roller bandage
    painkillers (e.g. paracetamol)
    anti-inflammatory (e.g. ibuprofen)

  • TIMEPIECE (WATCH/PHONE OR OTHER)
  • PEN
  • FOOD and WATER (A MINIMUM OF 2 FOOD-ENERGY BARS, AND 500ml OF WATER)
  • RAT RACE VEST & NUMBER (supplied at the registration) SHOWING AT ALL TIMES. NOT REDUCED IN SIZE

  • COMPASS
  • ONE OR MORE BIKE LOCKS SUFFICIENT TO LOCK TOGETHER YOUR THREE BIKES AT TRANSITION(S)
  • SURVIVAL BAG or blanket

KIT HIRE

You can now HIRE harnesses and helmets from our Rat Race Store here. We recommend that you book early as the stock is limited. Equipment will be available for collection from the Rat Race Store from 8pm Saturday (end of Mean Streets) until 8.30 am Sunday.

REFRESHER SESSIONS

You may decide you need to brush up on your kayaking or rope-work skills. These are optional although we do require that you have these skills prior to starting. Refresher sessions are run on the SATURDAY at the event village. Abseil sessions cost £9 each and you can buy a package of both kayak and abseil sessions for £15.
