PRIZES FOR 2010

For 2010, we really think it's worth dusting off that training plan and giving this year's Rat Race your all, for the prizes will just keep on coming! You don’t have to win an event either – the Rat Race prides itself in its spot prizes – awarded for achievements as spirit of the event and best comedy moment.

RAT RACE CATEGORY PRIZES:

Our sponsors will be rewarding 1st to 3rd places in Weekender Mixed Teams for all events in each race along with Best Mixed team, Best All Female team and Best All Male team for Mean Streets and Nine2Five Category.

RAT RACE SERIES PRIZE:
The 2010 Rat Race Champions will be awarded a prize of a year’s free Rat Racing in the 2011 season.

Rat Race Series Points are calculated in the following way:

  • For any team that wins a UK or Irish Rat Race in 2010, they will be awarded 12 points, then descending points for other places as follows; 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (to tenth place)

See below for qualifying criteria.

Criteria for Rat Race Points Series Prize Qualification

•    Qualifying events are any Rat Races in the UK and Ireland in 2010
•    The best 3 event results will be used, as nominated by the team, immediately after the last Rat Race of 2010.
•    One of the team (called a Counter) must have completed any 3 Rat Race events in 2010 - this counter does not have to be present at all of the Qualifying events. A team is allowed any number of Counters.
•    The team name must not change during 2010, neither can any sponsor prefixes or suffixes be added to the team name, to qualify.
•    As the teams can choose from their 'wins' it is more likely for there to be draws. If there is a draw then the teams will be separated by the aggregate time difference of their lead over the Director’s Time set for each event. Including those events where neither team used that event as a counter (that is unlikely however).
•    For a counter to qualify they must have finished the event together in a complete mixed team of 3. Mixed teams only can qualify.
•    Teams can complete events as teams of 2, but if so, neither of that team of 2 can be used as a counter for that event.

Notes
•    A 'squad' will not need to be declared pre-season.
•    Counters or Qualifying Events will not need to be declared pre-season.
•    The 2010 season starts with the Bristol Rat Race and ends with the last Rat Race of 2010, currently London Rat Race.
•    The season of Free Rat Racing will allow a team of 3 to enter each UK an Ireland Rat Race in the 2011 season.
•    The team make up will be the discretion of the team captain from the Bristol 2010 event onwards. If the team did not enter the 2010 Bristol event the team captain will be taken from the 2010 Edinburgh event

Notes

•    Counters or Qualifying Events will not need to be declared pre-season.
